I have a lot to to tell you about today...

...so sit back and get comfortable as reading this may take a while, but I assure you, it will be worth it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is a special day for me. Today is the 26th 36th anniversary of my discharge from the US Army. I spent two years in the army and briefly, here is how I spent my tour.
(Thanks Lime for correcting my math and aging me 10 years in an instant)
  • I was drafted on May 6, 1968
  • Basic training and AIT for my training to be an infantryman was at Fort Jackson South Carolina
  • I lost my virginity to a $12 hooker one weekend that summer
  • I was sent to South Vietnam and arrived during a rocket attack on October 6, 1968 somewhere around 11:00 at night
  • I was assigned to the 2nd platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 12 Infantry, 25th Infantry Division
  • November 8, 1968 I was wounded by a claymore mine
  • I was hospitalized for my wounds for about three months until January 29, 1970
  • I was then assigned to the 6th Armored Calvary Regiment at Fort Meade Maryland
  • I sent about a month in that unit and then was reassigned to1st Army Headquarters still at Fort Meade
  • I spent some of the best times of my life at Fort Meade
  • During my assignment at Fort Meade, I was promoted twice
  • I was honorably discharge on May 5, 1970 with the rank of Specialist 5th Class (that's the same rank as a Sargent E-5 for y'all that don't know about that kind of stuff)
If your interested, you can read my stories about my time in Vietnam here.
