My Deer HNT

After we bought our boat in early 1994, spent almost every weekend at Watch Hill on Fire Island where we docked our boat in the marina. Watch Hill had a large marina, a beach on both the Great South Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, camp grounds, a nature walk, restraunt, snack bar and a bar. If you walked a few hundred yards east on the ocean beach side, you entered the wilderness area of Fire Island. The wilderness area on Fire Island is the only wilderness area in NY State as I recall.

But there was one thing I didn’t like about Watch Hill, it was those damn deer. They were infested the Lyme disease carrying ticks. They weren’t afraid of people at all, as I guess you can tell by this picture. One day we were eating at one of the picnic tables and the person next to me got up. A minute or so later, one of the deer tried to eat the food right off the table next to me. I reached over, smacked it on the nose and it took off. Damn deer!

Big meanie! Just kidding!

You know how much someone in Michigan would pay to have that head hanging on their wall?

Of course I know how envious the hunters among us are when they see this picture. Why do you think I posted it? ;-)

WELL, being from Texas, I have to admit...That isn't exactly a Boone & Crockett record breaker. hehe You know we have big egos to match our "everything in Texas is bigger" attitudes. :-D

At least you have a picture next to a nice rack. *snickering*

Happy HNT Tony!!

Yeah when they come right up to you it's kind of unnerving. Cute for about five seconds till you see the GIANT FRELLING deer ticks swarming their torsos...

shudder....

Happy HNT BTE!

Very cool deer shot and story. But you should be careful about smacking deer - what if he got mad and told his cousin who's a reindeer? Then he'll tell Santa and suddenly you're on the "naughty" list.

Neat pic! Even without the porn or ass haha. I've only seen wild deer - never touched one that was friendly.

Oh, my kids would be delighted. We have 10 acres, and whenever a herd is moving through the yard, the children chase them. One particularly stupid doe chose to give birth in the fenced-in enclosure that contains 2 Siberian Huskies and one large black dog. It was the prettiest dead baby dear I've ever seen. Sigh.

Wow, that is really damn close! They don't come that close to people around here, unless they are frozen in the headlights in the middle of the street.

That's hilarious! It's amazing how stupid deer can be...especially during mating season! I remember my first time going hunting...I shot and missed completely. The deer just stood there looking around...gave me a great opportunity to put him down for the count on the second shot! :)

Happy HNT Tony!

I have a better weapon than water to get rid of them. And once is usually enough. Nice pic tho. I have a similar one I may post later.
