TODAY FUCKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night my son Brian's car was broken into. He found it open when he went to leave for work at 7:30. They took the TV/RADIO/DVD player and the visors that had small LCD monitors in them. The worst part is that since they aren't original equipment, the insurance policy only covers up to $1,000. They cost about $2,000. I bought him that stuff for Christmas last year.

Wait, I gets worse!

Looks like the most I'll get from the car insurance company is $1,000 and they will pay to fix the car. Since the player was an after market unit, they only cover up to $1,000. I could have gotten a rider on the policy, but I didn't know about it.

Still gets worse!

This car insurance company doesn't cover anything left loose in the car. Not the IPOD, 180 DVDs & CDs, the cell phone, nothing. I called my homeowners insurance company and they will cover personal property left in the car only if the car is at home. It was in the driveway so it was covered.

Can it get any worse? YES!

I have a $1,000 deductible on my homeowners insurance. The IPOD was $250 and the GPS $276. The cell phone? Who knows what it costs but it no where near $500.

Even worse yet!

They won't cover the CDs or DVDs either. Seems that since there is a player in the car capable of playing them, then my homeowners insurance company says it’s the car insurance companies responsibility.

How much more expensive can this gets you ask? Read on and find out.

I'm also going to get a new security system for the house. The one I have is too old, so no alarm company will touch. That means I have to get it replaced. I’m also getting a video monitoring system installed to monitor the driveway and all around the house. I have no idea what that’s going to cost, but a digital record connected to motion sensors starts at $1,200. I need to do this for my sanity. It will be worth it and I should have done it years ago

Take it from me, the cops are useless for this kind of thing and just make a report and eat more donuts or whatever it is they do. How do I know? In all my years, I’ve had one home or another burglarized six times. My old place, five times. Once there were even blood and fingerprints galore. In the almost 30 years we’ve live in this home, Brian's cars have been broken into twice, mine once and his first car set on fire. Nothing was ever done and nobody was ever caught.

Now at least with a video surveillance system, it will give us a good look at the culprits and then maybe the cops could catch them. The patrolman who was here this morning said the detectives probably wouldn’t even bother to come here. So far, he’s right.

I'm not going to let Brian bare the brunt of the loss, so I will do the fatherly thing and replace most of the stuff myself. I am fucked big time and will be out so much money that I don't even want to think about it.

One last thing, I finally got caught up on the bills today and that set me back over $5,700. This has been one very, very expensive day! I need a drink! No, I need LOTS of drinks! Happy Hour has officially started and will not end for a long, long time!

=( Wow, that really, really, really sucks! My friend's house was broken into the day before Christmas Eve... almost everything of value was taken and anything that was left behind, they destroyed. They took all of the Christmas presents and even ruined the tree. They also took all of her financial information. People can be such assholes! Good luck getting it resolved... or as resolved as it can be. I drink with you.

Honey I am sending you a great big cyber Gin & Tonic. I know it won't help though. *sigh* You ARE a great father you know. Brian is so lucky.
My Dad would have probably made me sweat a little and then did the same thing :)

Oh bummer Tony! I am so sorry to hear about that but in the long run...having that security system will pay for itself! Hey...I have a ton of cd's on my computer. I can always burn some off to help out for now if that'll help ease the burden. I have like 5000 songs now...I'm sure I have something, as long as it's not country or rap.

Good luck...Better yet...I'll just send ya a bottle of GIN!!!

Just be thankful for one thing...nobody was hurt.

that really does suck the sweat of a dead man's balls. and not to make light or anything, but i am glad it was only stuff they took and it wasn't a robbery when you were home. stuff can be replaced, expensive and apain but better than being harmed

Isn't it terrible when you have to get a survellance system to help the police? And even worse when the police offer you no help what so ever? Im so sorry this has happened to you and your son Tony. I hope all in all once your all set up and it happens again(which by the way I hope never happens again but unfortunally it probably will)That the police at least step up and do something if you have it all on tape. Cheers hun. It will get better.

You know it could have been worse..........at least no one was hurt. Perhaps you need to move south where it is safer!!!!
Happy New Year to both you and Lori.

sorry that all happened. But I have to stick up for the COPS of this world since I was married to one. they do what they can and what they are told to do and so very often a few come along and try to do more, and when they try and do more they either lose their job or get shot. I have seen it happen in my very own personal life, I know it to be very true. The one that got shot, survived, but can never patrol the streets again. The one that lost his job, well you already know who that is.

I had to come back, cuz after I was here before I found out that the Cop I referred to that was shot is going to be featured on Court TV in May telling and re-inacting his story. If interested, I will let you know when it airs. But I am not leaving his name here. contact me by email if you want to know more.

Well,
The ONLY good I can say, is at least your son wasn't in the car at the time this all happened. Being robbed really takes away something inside you. Hoping for a better day for ya'll.

So sorry to hear about the burglary! It just really pisses me off that people can do such a thing. We work hard to have the things we have, and then someone just comes along and takes them!

Good luck to you!
