Pool Party HNT

Saturday, Lori and I hosted a pool party for our blogger friends. I sent out open invitations starting a year ago, but by the time the pool party came around, people that said they would come or at least try to come, sent their regrets. Some even the same day.

Oh well, their loss, because they missed a hell of a good time!

Os was the first to show, but was alone. We expected him to bring ~M, but that morning she woke up in severe pain, which put her in the hospital. She had a kidney stone, which they zapped, so she was able to come home the next day. Missed you ~M!

Os, Lori and I sat in my living room for a while catching up and then I gave him a tour of the recent work I had done inside.







Os surprised us with the 'Official Os Shirt'. Later we all took pictures with the shirt.







Then we went outside to check out the work that I done last year.



I'm pretty sure there was a bit of grill envy.




Everyone loves the waterfall. The sound of the water flowing into the pool is so relaxing.








It was time for some snacks, so we sat at the patio table enjoying the foods Lori had prepared.








A little while later, Os said he had to get something from his car and returned with Shizzle and her pup. What a great surprise.






Even if no one else showed up, this made my day. I've "known" Shizzle for many years via blogs and it was a pleasure to finally get to meet her.


We all chatted some more then had some lunch also prepared by Lori. Everyone agreed that her pulled pork was excellent! Thanks baby, the food was great!

Party Prep

Lori came over tonight to help prepare for the party. We just got out of the pool. Sure felt great skinny dipping after the hot day we had.

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY HNT

Today would have been my 38th wedding anniversary. I married my late wife, Barbara Ann Vitale, on July 29, 1972 and lost her to brain cancer on October 18, 2005.

Happy Anniversary Lovey and may you rest in peace. XOXOXO

Mandate III HNT

Every year, Lori's brother and his family came to her place for a few days for a visit. Three years ago, Lori's son, brother & nephew decided to spent a day together hanging out without the women folk. Therefore, Mandate was born.

Last year Mandate II was moved to my place being that I had a pool & a BBQ. It was so much fun that everyone decided that each year Mandate would be held at my place. Mandate III was expanded to two days this year and celebrated this week on Tuesday & Wednesday.

Tuesday we started Mandate with a clambake. We walked over to the beach and gathered seaweed. Then we put an inch of water in the bottom of the pots and laid in a layer of seaweed.

Next we put in potatoes, corn on the cob, clams, muscles, shrimp.....













..... and last but not least, lobsters.














Then the last layer, more seaweed topped off by a potato. When the potato is done, so is everything else.












The table was set, the food was cooked.............














Finally it was time to sit down to what turned out to be a very delicious meal.

We even had a mascot.


If you look close you'll see he his tattoo.

SKINNY DIPPING HNT

Rerun Fishing HNT

This BTExpress as a young child at the ripe old age of 5 1/2 somewhere in the Tampa/St Petersburg, Florida area. That's my Polish grandfather in the background. We were out on one of our usual Sunday drives to who knows where. My dad always carried fishing tackle in the car and whenever he saw fishing spot where he thought he could catch something, he'd pull the car over to the side of the road and fish. He always caught something, but today was especially an good day, as you can see in the picture.

I'll never forget this day because it was a day he made me lift this very heavy large mouth bass. He caught the thing, but insisted that I hold the fish and the rod so he could take my picture. I remember telling him it was too heavy, and arguing with him, but he insisted. I struggled, as you can tell by the way I was listing in the shot, but hold it I did.

Isn't it strange the things you remember?

Rerun - Like Father Like Son HNT

I was going through a box of very old photos I found while cleaning out my mother's apartment. I came across many that I've never seen, and some that I remember very well. This one of my father was one of those. I hope you enjoy this rerun HNT from December 9, 2005.

MOTHER OF GOD! I HAVE BECOME MY FATHER!

Yesterday I posted a story about my father being Sanda Claus and SGM made a comment that it was too bad I didn'’t have a picture of him dressed as Santa. This sent me on a search for a picture of my father and I found this one him at our wedding.

These is a picture of my father at 51 and me at 50. When I looked at his picture next to mine, I was amazed at how much we looked a like. The most striking thing to me was that our right eye is slightly more closed than our left eye.

I really have become my father, which make me about the happiest person on earth tonight, because he was the BEST! May you rest in peace dad, love you.

POOL & HOT TUB PARTY HNT

You are here by invited to an adults only pool party in my new back yard on August 7th. You can fly into the Islip (ISP) airport that's only 5 minutes from my house.

Sorry I can't invite your kids, but knowing myself and some of my friends, there will be skinny dipping involved.
