Today is a special day for me. Today is the
(Thanks Lime for correcting my math and aging me 10 years in an instant)
- I was drafted on May 6, 1968
- Basic training and AIT for my training to be an infantryman was at Fort Jackson South Carolina
- I lost my virginity to a $12 hooker one weekend that summer
- I was sent to South Vietnam and arrived during a rocket attack on October 6, 1968 somewhere around 11:00 at night
- I was assigned to the 2nd platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 12 Infantry, 25th Infantry Division
- November 8, 1968 I was wounded by a claymore mine
- I was hospitalized for my wounds for about three months until January 29, 1970
- I was then assigned to the 6th Armored Calvary Regiment at Fort Meade Maryland
- I sent about a month in that unit and then was reassigned to1st Army Headquarters still at Fort Meade
- I spent some of the best times of my life at Fort Meade
- During my assignment at Fort Meade, I was promoted twice
- I was honorably discharge on May 5, 1970 with the rank of Specialist 5th Class (that's the same rank as a Sargent E-5 for y'all that don't know about that kind of stuff)
