~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My big brother was born about four years before me and given the name Rodney Wayne. I was born next and named after my father, Anthony Joesph, Jr. Four years later my baby sister was born and given the name Diane. Nope, no middle name.
My father's nickname was Stoney, because they said he had a head as hard as stone. I was my father's favorite of the three kids, so was given the the nickname of Little Stoney. Here's a picture of Little Stoney on May 4, 1949 at just six months old. Ain't I adorable?
It's a long story, but you guys with kids, PLEASE NEVER EVER, EVER, EVER pick a favorite child. I know it may be difficult, but take it from me, it causes nothing but resentment that can last a life time. My father let it be known I was his favorite. My mom knew it and so did my sister and brother. That caused a lot of grief for us all. My brother picked on me A LOT and has tried to make up for it as an adult. I don't really know how much it affected my sister. My mom knew and favored my brother and sister to try to make up for the extra attention he paid to me.
Here's the happy family when it was a happy family in Silver Springs Florida in 1955.
Happy the Good Old Days HNT!
two fabulous pictures! that baby picture is too cute for words. look at the head of hair!!
and you are absolutely correct about the negative effects of parents picking favorites. it's a devastating thing.
You are sooooo cute!
I hear you on the favoritism. In my family, it's the brothers. They can do no wrong as to where my sister and I? We're always doing something wrong and never get appreciated. That's why I have dogs and a cat. But you know, you still have your favorites with them as well...
HHNT Tony!
xo
I've been enjoying the series. That does suck about the favorite thing. I was an only child, so I knew I was the best!
OH, HHNT!
I only have black and whites of my Dad. No pictures of me. They all got lost in the '86 flood.
Cool pictures! I didn't know you were that damn old. ;)
Won't tell you my age though. ;)
Happy HNT!
I'm loving these old pictures!
Adorable. Happy HNT!
Great "memory lane" pictures. You're absolutely right about the favorite thing. My Mother treated me like a little god and my sister still hates me for it. I don't blame her but there was nothing I could do about it. Happy HNT.
BTW, your link from Os comment is messed up.
Awww, such a cute baby!
Happy HNT!
If that's your mum in the second picture, I hope you don't mind I've got the hots for her.
When you post retro pics, you really mean RETRO pics! Thanks for sharing them.
AWE!!! Too cute! Sound advice too :)
HHNT!
I only have one child and i'm glad of that. I see favoritism via my MIL and her Grandchildren (my child is her favorite) and it's not always pretty....
You were/are a dollbaby!
Yes are adorable! It's always nice to look back time...Happy HNT!
OMG, the favoritism is SO destructive - my sister was a huge mess and there's still a lot of problems between us because I was the "golden child."
Hugs, Tony!
tony-that baby picture is to die for! what a hunny you were!! and, well, as far as favorites, that;s why i only have one! she;s definitely my favorite!! after all, i tell people 'when you have the perfect kid the first time, you don't NEED to have any more!'
Oh man Tony...that's the BEST thing that came out of my 3 Day Walk...Meeting you and Lori! I feel like such a doofas for not putting that in there....pfffft!
