Time Sure Flies When Your Having Fun!

I can’t believe we’re back from our trip to San Diego already. Seems like we just left, and now we’re home. Yep, “Time Sure Flies When Your Having Fun!”

We took off from Long Island last Thursday on the 10:35 am flight and landed in San Diego about 7 ½ hours later at 3:00 pm California time. We had a stop in Las Vegas, but didn’t have to change planes.

The flight was fine except that Lori and I didn’t get to sit together. It was a 5-½ hour flight to Las Vegas and we were both stuck in window seats. Our first vacation together and we couldn’t even sit together on the plane. That really sucked, BIG TIME SUCKED.

We flew on Southwest and every seat on the plane was taken. We were one of the last people to board the plane and by the time we got on, there were only single seats available to sit in. I sat on the port side of the plane (left side to those that don’t know what port means) in the window seat; two rows ahead of the window seat Lori sat in.

Southwest doesn’t have assigned seating. They load the plane in groups; A, B and C. You are assigned to a group in the order you confirm the reservation. Sort of like first come, first served.

I forgot to confirm our reservations until late Wednesday night, so being one of the last to confirm, we were assigned to group C. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

I didn’t make that mistake on the way home. We flew back home on Monday, so Sunday morning I signed on the Southwest web site a few minutes before I was allowed to confirm our reservation. I waited until it was exactly 24 hours before fight time and logged in. We were assigned to Group A!!!! That meant we would be one of the first to board the plane, and more importantly, we would be sitting together on the flight home. HURRAY!!!!!!!!

Other than not sitting together on the flight over, we had a really good time the rest of the time. We took 437 pictures on the trip so posting them all is out of the question. It’s going to take some time to pick the ones to post, so please be patient. Here’s a few to tie you over.

We flew to San Diego on Southwest Airlines in this 737 jet.

On the cross country flight, we flew over a lot of places that I don't know the name of, in this order.

I think the pilot said this was Pikes Peak.

This is Lake Meade just outside of Las Vegas.

This is Las Vegas. Notice how brown everything is. YUCK!

They did water the golf courses though. So not everything was brown.

We stopped in Las Vegas to let people off. This is when Lori and I finally got to sit together.

We took off from las Vegas about a half hour after landing and finally we arrived on the West Coast about 1 1/2 hours later. We circled over over San Diego before landing.

Here's a shot of the San Diego airport and the island our hotel was on.

Here's a better shot of the island.

We finally landed in San Diego.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
More to follow when I get a chance. Right now it's time to mix up 6 fucking liters of Colyte and start drinking it in preparation for my colonoscopy tomorrow. Seems that me being old warrants a colonoscopy every ten years to look for polyps, colon cancer or any other stuff that ain't suppose to be up my ass.
We're Back Home Again
Lori and I left beautiful, warm, sunny San Diego this morning on the 10:50 am flight and landed in cold, rainy New York eight hours later.
YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a great time in San Diego and did so much in such a short time. We started the trip by having dinner with Jodie, Jillie, Twink and Dani Thursday night and ended it with watching the 3-Day Walk closing ceremonies in downtown San Diego outside the Padres ball park.
We had a blast!
It's late, I'm tired, need a shower and some sleep. I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow if I get a chance.
California Here I Come!
Lori and I are leaving for California tomorrow (Thursday). We’ll be in the San Diego area until Monday.
Want to know why we’re going?
Well I’m not telling ya!
LOL!!!!!!!!
Just kidding. :-D
We're going to do some sight seeing of course, but the main reason we're going is to give our support to Jodes, Jillie and the rest of the Team Beach Babes in the San Diego 2007 Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.
Sometime in January of this year, I saw a post from a fellow Blogger, Jodes and her commitment to raise $2,200 for breast cancer research and to walk in the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk in November. I was impressed by her commitment and donated a few dollars to her in the name of my late wife Barbara. Barbara died from brain cancer in October of 2005. Barbara had squirreled some money away and I felt it was only right to give the money to Jodes to help her raise the money she had committed to raise in fight against breast cancer.
Sometime over the next 11 months, Jodes hooked up with some other equally committed woman and they formed a walking group they named Team Beach Babes. So far the team has raised a total of $22,009. That’s a lot of money and they should all be congratulated.
Thursday evening Lori and I are meeting Jodes, Jillie and maybe a couple of other of the beach babes for drinks. I can't wait!
It’s not too late to donate a few dollars of your own to these ladies. Just click here and make a difference.
Today is Election Day In The United States of America!
If your lucky enough to live in this country and even more lucky to have the right to vote, get your ass over to the polls today and vote!
If you give up that right and choose not to vote, I don't want to hear any of your
frigging bitching and moaning about how this country is run.
WTF are you waiting for?
VOTE!
YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU DON'T!
I HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!
Saturday was my birthday and also the 8th month anniversary of the day Lori and I met. Lori and I celebrated both of them all weekend. Since it was my birthday, that kind of took priority over our anniversary, so Lori said we could do ANYTHING, and I do mean ANYTHING, I wanted to do for my birthday weekend.
When she said that, my mind immediately went into the gutter, so to speak. Well, not exactly the gutter, but to my slowly dwindling list of fantasies. Lori told me that she already had my list on her agenda, and to think of what else I wanted to do, like where I wanted to go to dinner. I tried to find out what she had on the agenda, but she was closed mouth and wouldn’t tell me anything. She wanted things to be a surprise. Let me tell you, my mind did some serious wandering the last week before the weekend.
Friday evening we went out to my favorite Italian restaurant for dinner. We had a nice dinner and a carafe of wine. When we got home, we watched a movie or two and snuggled twice before falling asleep in each other’s arms like we always do. We both like to hold each other when we sleep. That’s another one of the many reasons we are so good for each other.
Saturday morning we woke up a bit earlier than we wanted to, but that was okay, it just meant we had more time for snuggling before we got started on the day. No details, but let me just say it was some of the best snuggling we’ve ever had. I told Lori it was a great start on my birthday presents and she told she felt like it was her birthday, not mine.
Lori got up after catching her breath and made breakfast while I stayed in bed. She brought me breakfast in bed. We watched a little TV and checked out my blog and read your nice comments. Thanks again y’all!
By the time we got out of bed, it was early afternoon, so Lori started on my birthday cake, a cheesecake. I know that’s not a normal type of birthday cake, but I’m not too fond of sweets, so I don’t normally even eat regular cake. I like cheesecake and since Lori wanted me to have ANYTHING I wanted on my birthday weekend, she made me her special recipe cheesecake.
I helped a little by pressing the graham cracker crumbs into the spring form pan for the crust while Lori mixed the filling. We tasted the batter and it was excellent! I couldn’t wait to taste the finished product.
Lori poured the batter into the pan, put the pan in the properly preheated oven and then I set the timer for the required cooking time. Then I went into the den to check my email and Lori went into the shower.
In a little while, I went into the kitchen to check on the cheesecake. From the taste of the batter, it was going to be a really good birthday cake, but from the looks of it now, it wasn’t turning out that great. I called Lori into the kitchen. She looked in the oven, mumbled something and asked me how much time was left on the timer. I looked at the timer and saw that I had forgotten to turn it on.
FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! I really fucked this one up!
I had no idea how long it had been in the oven. Needless to say, it was overcooked, which was totally my fault. I was so disappointed in myself. Lori has been making that recipe for at least 25 years and it always came out perfect. Then the first time she makes it for me, I fuck up and ruin it for her. She tried to blame the pan and make it her fault somehow, but I know I screwed up and it was overcooked.
Lori promised to make it for me again, but next time I’m going to let her keep track of the time. I don’t want to risk ruining it again and then her never making it for me.
The rest of the day went well until after dinner. That evening Lori took me out to dinner for my birthday at a restaurant I’ve had a craving to go to, The Good Steer. I had a burger combo that I haven’t had for at least 10 years. I used to go to The Good Steer all the time when I lived in the area, but it’s just too far to make burgers and onion rings worth the trip anymore.
I enjoyed the dinner, but it didn’t sit well with me. On the way home my gut started gurgling and I hit the bathroom pretty quickly after we got home. I don’t think my gut was ready for such a heavy, greasy meal. You see, Brian and I got food poisoning about a week ago or so and I guess I wasn’t completely over it.
This ruined Lori’s plans for some “Special Fantasy List Snuggling” for my birthday that night. What made it worse, was Brian and his girlfriend rented a hotel room for the night and that left the house all too Lori and me. (Saturday was the one-year anniversary of them dating, so they had a special night planned too.)
All was not lost though. I took some meds to control the, uh, uh, you know what, and I was better by the morning.
Sunday morning we more than made up for my being out of commission the night before. Or should I say, Lori made up for it. Since I am quite shy and modest believe that and I have a bridge to sell you, I can’t tell you exactly what item Lori and I crossed off of my “Special Fantasy Snuggling List”, but I’ll give you a hint. The only fantasy I have left, is a threesome with another woman. Lori has fulfilled every other one.
Any volunteers?
PS
I don’t really ever expect a threesome to happen, but aren’t that what fantasies all about.
PSS
Just because I don’t really expect a threesome to ever happen, doesn’t mean we aren’t taking applications. So send your application to me via email and I will forward it to Lori for her evaluation. This fantasy is totally up to her too.
Happy Birthday To Me!
Today I am 58 years old. You could also say I am 21,184 days old. Or, as of 12:00 am this morning I was 1,830,297,600 seconds old. Another way to put it is I'm 30,504,960 minutes old or 508,416 hours old. Then again, you could also say I am about 3026 weeks old.
I started out life looking like this.
Now I look like this.
Damn, I still look good, don’t I?
Public Service Bulletin No. 1
Due to the fact that so many of us that use Blogger have found it FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to post pictures using the EVIL FUCKING BLOGGER, I am providing this technical bulletin to let you know there is a way around this problem.
In two words!!!!! Use Photobucket!!!!
I made a post about having a lot of trouble posting pictures on my blog. Jodes left me a comment and told me she used Photobucket. I’ve had a Photobucket account for a few years now, but forgot all about it until Jodes mentioned it. I tried it and pictures downloaded without a problem.
Here is the description Photobucket uses to describe what they provide.
Photobucket provides free video and photo sharing. Easily host and link your images and videos to social networks, auction sites, blogs, and message boards. Photobucket is reliable and very easy to use. Give it a try!
Upload and store up to 10,000 pictures. Video too. Link them to MySpace, eBay, blogs, forums... anywhere. Share them with family, even order prints. Over 28 million people use it and it's free!
It works like a charm! So try it, you won’t be sorry.
