Cooking Tip # 14

When a recipe calls for white wine in the sea scallop scampi, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, substitute red wine. If you don't have any white wine, just leave out the wine all together or dinner will turn out FRIGGING DISGUSTING! YUCK!!!!!

That is all. :-(

I'm lonely and bored

Lori is in Rhode Island this weekend visiting her parents and I needed some cheering up. Nothing says holiday cheer more than a hot chick cooking in her bra. So for your's and my viewing pleasure, "A Girl, A Bra, A Stove".

Thank you Atom Films!

We All Need a New Calender for 2008

I thought I'd perform a public service and provide y'all, my fellow horn dogs, with a link to free sexy 2008 calenders. Well, almost free. Each one will cost you the price of twelve sheets of printer paper and a little color ink.

It's going to cost me a lot more ink and paper than that. I've been printing out calenders for three days now and still haven't reached the end of the list of calenders I want. I sure hope I can get them all printed out and hung before the first of the year.

My Favorite HNT of 2007

For HNT this week, Os wants us to choose our favorite 2007 HNT. Here is a summary of the rules.

For the last HNT of the year, it's time to go back to YOUR OWN archives and choose YOUR favorite HNT of 2006 2007. This is the one that YOU think is best. Post the picture again, and let us know why it's your favorite. Link back to the original, if you want.

This was tough, because I liked them all. Well, most of them anyway. The Root Canal HNT was at the very bottom of the list. I went back through my HNTs and finally decided on the SUPER BOWL FANTASY HNT posted on February 8th. This HNT was done jointly with Lori. She posted Part One on her blog and I posted Part Two on mine. Doing this one was a lot of fun. Click on the links and I'm sure you'll be able to figure out why.

Now for my favorite picture. Since this post was a two parter, I felt the need to post my favorite picture from each part.

"What's better than watching the big game, with the Nudist Rules in effect..."

"...and being served food and grog by your favorite sexy wench?"

There is nothing better!

Wait! Now that I think of it there are a few things that are better and they all include my favorite sexy wench.

If you are so inclined, all 125 of my HNT posts are available here.

Merry Day After Christmas!

I hope you got lucky, as in you received all the gifts you were hoping for. I sure did and more. My son got me a 27 inch TV for my bedroom. My old 24 inch one was starting to go, so if he didn't get one for me, I soon would have had to buy one for myself.

I gave Brian a tool kit, so he'll stop using mine and then maybe I'll be able to find my tools when I need them. I also got him a new electric razor. He's been complaining about razor burn, so he was very happy I gave him that. His big present was a VISA gift card so he could buy new hockey equipment. He has been playing roller hockey in a league where they use a ball. In January they move to a different league and move up to the A division. This league uses a puck and getting hit by a puck hurts a hell of a lot more than getting hit by a ball. That means that he has to outfit himself with different types of protective equipment. I gave him enough money so he can buy new skates too.

In the afternoon Brian went to his girl friend's house and I went to Lori's. But first we both went to the cemetery to visit Barbara. I never saw so many people there at one time before. There was a constant flow of cars in and out.

Lori made a turkey breast with all the trimmings for dinner. It turned out perfectly and everything was excellent. But before dinner we exchanged gifts. Her kids gave me gin and tonic, a fancy Margaretta kit, a hand tool that makes cutting vegetables, etc., easier and a muti-pack of different flavors of hot sauce. I love spicy food! I got them all VISA gift cards. I gave her son the new Guinness Book of World Records, one daughter I gave a Starbucks card and the other girl I gave her just what she wanted. Five boxes of Kraft macaroni & cheese and five cans of tuna. I know that sounds like a strange gift, but the girl could live on that stuff.

Lori gave me a bunch of stuff and I gave her a bunch of stuff too. I'll post about that later, but first I have to get outside and pick up the bags & stuff that held the Luminarios. For the last 25 years, every house in our beach association has put them out every Christmas Eve, weather permitting. We line the streets in front of our homes with them.

FYI: Luminarios are small brown paper sacks, half filled with sand and a candle placed in the sand. On Christmas Eve these are lit, it will help in guiding the Christ child to this home.

May You All Get Lucky!

...and get everything you wanted this holiday season.

Merry Christmas my friends and even them that are not.

I love you all!

But not in "that" way of course.

Sort of in a brother or sister

or lustful sort of way.

Take your pick.

;-)

Disclaimer: That was not a poem, because I can't write poetry.

I'm so excited!

I just received an email from someone I tried to contact two years ago. How cool is that?

On December 13, 2005, I posted this story about being ambushed in Vietnam while we were on patrol. This wasn't the story about the ambush when I was wounded, but the one where my platoon sergeant, Sergeant Cox was wounded. Unfortunately Sergeant Cox died from those wounds later that day.

As I mentioned in the story, I'd found Sergeant Cox's name on the Vietnam Memorial web site and in turn, I found a note from the daughter of one of his best friends back home in Queens.

Jimmy Cox was a good friend of my father's in New York. I know little about him, but I do have the honor of holding his army green jacket with his name on it. I say I know little about him but I feel the impact of his tragically short life on my father. My father is not an emotional man, and I have never seen him cry about anything save Jimmy. I can see through my father's eyes and the tears, how wonderful this young man must have been. To Jimmy and my dad, thank you, I love you.
Peaches

I sent her an email soon after I read this message, but I didn't hear back from until today. That was over two years ago!

Hi Tony
I left a note on the Vietnam Memorial Names website quite a while back. I left my college e-mail address on the site, and since then, that e-mail address has been closed. Through some random family internet browsing, my mom came across my message on James (Jimmy) Cox's name, and your blog responding to it. I know my father would appreciate your stories, especially about Jimmy . My parents still send his mother a Christmas card every year. Thank you for who you are and for your service to our great country. I hope this note finds you well, and I wish you and your family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
Warm Regards
Paula Miller

I replied to her email letting her know that I am available to talk to whomever would like to chat. I'll let you know how this works out.

Did I mention that I'm excited? :-)

Are you going to be busy this weekend?

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

Are you going to be busy this weekend?

Doing things like last minute Christmas shopping, wrapping presents and if your like most men, starting your Christmas shopping. Once in a while you'll need a break, a diversion from all the hustle and bustle and I have just the thing.

SECRETS of LADIES VOLLEYBALL HAND SIGNALS revealed!

I think they are hand signals. I wasn't really paying attention.

http://www.ehowa.com/features/volleyballsigns.shtml

Please excuse me, I need a diversion. Have a great weekend!

Three Christmas Wishes HNT

This weeks HNT isn't the normal HNT. Mr HNT asked us to pick three HNT participants/bloggers and then tell the world what we'd wish for them for Christmas if we had the means to do so. This was not an easy decision. There are a lot of people I'd like to give wishes too, but I had to settle for three.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My first Christmas gift wish was a no brainer. I did a post about them last Friday, it is for Samantha and Don. Their son will be deployed to Iraq on January 2nd and Sam may be deployed at anytime.
My gift to them would be peace in Iraq and Afghanistan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Zoely gets my second Christmas wish. She is about to head out into unknown territory, Maine. She could have picked a better time of the year WARMER WEATHER, but sometimes we don't have a choice in some things.

My gift to her is a paid for credit card with a never ending balance.

That way she can buy lots and lots and lots of warm clothes for her and her kids and a never ending supply of fuel oil/natural gas/wood to heat her abode and keep her and her offspring warm.

If she is so inclined, maybe she'll also buy some sexy lingerie and post the pics.

I'd even chip in a few bucks out of my pocket for that. How about you?

Edit: I've been corrected, she's moving to Vermont. Same difference as far as I'm concerned. It's still fucking cold!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then there is the third recipient of my Christmas wishes. I'll give you two guesses who it is; here's the clues.
Clumsy: kləm-zē
Function: adjective
Inflected Form(s): clum·si·er; clum·si·est
Etymology: probably from obsolete English clumse benumbed with cold lacking dexterity, nimbleness, or grace b: lacking tact or subtletyawkward or inefficient in use or construction: unwieldy
Synonyms: See awkward
Did you guess?
No?
Here's another hint.
You still didn't guess?
Okay, here's the last clue. You have to be able to guess who it is with this one.
Yep, it's Jillie, the ultimate Green Bay Packer fan.
My first gift for her is a cool looking cheese bra like the one on the chick above. Jillie already has the cheese head. Besides, I really want to see Jillie model it for me. She is hot! ;-)
Then there is the most important wish for her, gracefulness.
(See the definition above for a hint why.)
The poor thing really needs this, badly! Last year she fell stepped off a curb and required surgery on her ankle. Not once, but twice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And for the rest of you horn dogs that came here to see some skin this fine day, here's a naughty picture of me taken by my baby when we were in Las Vegas.

I Heard the First Beep After Dinner.

Every few minutes I heard it again, and again and again and again.
All through the evening I heard the beeping.
At first I thought it was the TV.
Nope, not that.
Then I thought it was the smoke detector.
Nope, not that either.
Then what the fuck is it?
It was driving me crazy.
Seemed to be coming from the hall, so I sat in there while I chatted on my laptop with Lori.
WTF?
For a solid 1/2 hour I never heard the beep.
So back to my recliner I went.
THERE IT IS AGAI!!!!
It's, it's, it's coming from, uh, uh...........
I have no idea where it is coming from.
SHIT!
There it is again.
FUCK!
This beeping has been going off and on for hours!
Where the fuck is it coming from?
I will not sleep tonight until I find the source of this beeping.
FUCK!
There is goes again.
I know, the batteries in the smoke detectors are low!
Nope, I changed them and still that fucking beeping is there.
Now what?
Now don't move Tony.
Just listen and see where it is coming from.
But I already tried that you idiot!
What do you think I am, stupid?
Sorry..... :-(
What do you suggest?
How should I know?
Crap!
There it is again!
I stand in the door way to the basement.
There it is, down stairs.
I walk down the stairs and stand motionless at the bottom of the stairs.
I wait and wait for that god awful beeping sound.
There it goes again.
I walk into the other side of the basement door and it dawns on me.
That fucking carbon monoxide detector is beeping.
About every minute or two now.
That's the signal the battery is low.
I get a new 9 volt battery from the den and replace the old one in the carbon monoxide detector.

SUCCESS!
The beeping has been silenced for another year!
Hooray! Let's just hope I remember what that beeping sound is next year.

Hero performed by Michael Israel in New York

I stopped by Don's blog last night at Mysteries of the Pineapple. Don is married to Samantha Alice, a blogger friend some of you know and a friend of mine almost from the beginning of my blog. Sam enlisted in the army late last year and is now stationed in Germany. Don and their children joined her there a while ago.

In Don's post, he said that he had a tough week, because he found out that their son will soon be deployed to Iraq and his wife Sam, may be deployed at anytime. I can't imagine what they are all feeling right now.

As much as I'm against the war in Iraq, I am still extremely proud of them, and everyone in the military for making the sacrifices our country has asked of them. I'm also proud of many other people, in all walks of life, that makes sacrifices for us every day.

Don provided a link to an amazing video on YouTube that is a wonderful tribute to these people. I'm not ashamed to say that I cried like a baby starting at the 2-minute mark and continued until well after the video was over.

This is part of the description of the video they provided.

Don't miss the end...wonderful surprises all the way through. HERO is an amazing accomplishment, a performance you watch with your heart. This work has helped raise interest and awareness for many charities and worthy causes. This performance was produced by Wolfgang Films.

HERO explores commitment to an ideal. It asks the question: What endeavor would you undertake knowing full well that the odds are you will fail? What would you give your all to knowing it's likely you will be severely injured or even die trying? What is the greatest possible reward and in that thought, what is the most valuable and priceless thing on earth?

Christmas Tree HNT

Os gave us an HNT theme this week and for the next two HNTs after this; December 20th and December 27th.

This week we were to show you our Christmas tree. I know he was expecting our Christmas trees to be up and decorated by now, but as you probably know by now, I am "King of the Procrastinators"!

LONG LIVE KING BTE! ;-)

As you can see, my tree isn't set up or decorated. I suppose you can also tell by looking at my Christmas tree and me in my basement here, that I'm also not the most organized person in the world either. I found the Christmas tree, but darned if I know where the stand is?

Oh well, if I can't find it, I'll just lean the tree up in the corner of the living room.

HAPPY HO, HO, HO HNT CHRISTMAS!

GOOD NEWS!

Sometime on Sunday Lori lost one of her glue-on nails. She didn't know exactly where she lost it. She looked in all the places she remembers where she could have lost it, but she never found it.

Well, this evening I found it and she was very happy, but me, not so much. Why may you ask?

BECAUSE I FOUND IT IN MY MOUTH!

Yes, my mouth! It was in my drink.

How did it get in my drink you ask? There is only one way.

Well, three ways, but those ways aren't part of this story.

Sometime Saturday after 4:00 pm (Happy Hour in my house starts daily at 4:00 pm) Lori made a round of our gin & tonics and her nail was knocked off by the ice when she reached in the ice maker bin. This evening when I made a drink, I must have grabbed the long lost finger nail along with the ice and dropped it in my glass.

A short time later while we were watching TV in bed, I took a drink and felt something, other than gin & tonic or ice, in my mouth. I took it out and low and behold, it was the long lost finger nail. She was really happy, but me, I was a bit grossed out.

Come on, I had no idea where that finger nail hand been. It could have been anywhere, even in naughty places. Okay, that would be HOT! I love her naughty places, but that's another story. But what if that finger nail had been in, well, you know, other places not so HOT? Never mind, I like all her places if you get my drift.

Anyway, finding a finger nail in my drink is not exactly something I wanted to ever find in my drink again.

What's the worst thing you ever found in your drink or food?

Finally got the pool closed.......

...... well, almost.

Last weekend I had an excuse. It snowed.

I know, I know, I know, I've been procrastinating closing my pool, but I've been mega busy ROTFLMAO , but that all came to an end on Saturday. With Lori prodding me, I started closing the pool.

The weather on Saturday was cold, cold and colder. Okay, it was in the mid-40s, but that's still cold for a pool closing. While I was doing the pool, Lori was baking cookies. Don't they look good?

I wasn't thrilled that I would be spending the day out doors, but I know it had to be done.

I tried to get some sympathy from Lori so I could stop and go inside where it was warm.

I even tried smiling, but no deal. I had to at least finish cleaning the pool before I would be allowed inside to get warm.

The time finally came when it was time to add the winterizing chemicals.

Two of part A and eleven of part 3 and then a few dashes of part M.

Here is the clean, chemical balanced pool.

It was starting to get dark, so I went inside to work on my next project; getting the back door storm door to close. That included replacing the broken door knob/latch/closer thingy on the storm door.

Then the next day, Sunday, Lori helped me get the winter cover on.

PS
Remind me next fall to close the pool before the garden hoses freeze.

I've changed sides

I've always liked dogs, but not cats. This pretty lady changed my mind. If you watch The Office, you'll recognize her.

Wait! That was about cats, right?

Blogging HNT

Some of my favorite things to do are done in my bed, including blogging. Where is your favorite place to do things you like to do?

I also like to watch TV there too. ;-)

HAPPY HNT Y'ALL!
